How to Use Emergency Contraception

What if I take the second pill first?

Although most EC products sold in the United States now contain just one pill, you may from time to time see some two-pill products, like Next Choice and Levonorgestrel Tablets. The package says to take one pill immediately after unprotected intercourse, and then to take the second pill 12 hours later. You can take both doses at the same time. However, if you decide to take the pills separately, know that there is no difference between the two pills, and it does not matter which pill you take first.
