State Pharmacy Access:


The following states allow pharmacists to prescribe emergency contraceptive pills directly to women of any age:
Alaska, California, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Vermont, Washington State.

Even though progestin-only EC is available without prescription to anyone of any age, some insurance companies require a prescription for coverage. In some of the states listed above, ella can be prescribed directly by a pharmacist. Check with your local pharmacy for more information.
